Slip-On: real vs fake

Elastic side gores
On retail pairs the gores are dense elastic, neatly set into the upper, lying flat, and matched in size and shape on both sides. Reps often use thinner elastic, sewn in crooked, that stretches unevenly.
Fabric or checkerboard print quality
The upper can be solid textile, suede, or the signature checkerboard print – identify the release material first. On solid uppers the weave is tight and even; on checkerboard uppers the squares are crisp and evenly sized. A natural pattern break at a panel seam (the side gore, for instance) is a normal result of how the fabric is cut, not a fake tell. Reps show thinner fabric, with the squares themselves blurry, uneven, or mismatched in size.
Edge stitching
Stitching runs even around the full perimeter of the upper with no broken thread. On fakes the spacing drifts, with skipped stitches near the elastic gores.
Toe shape and profile

Waffle outsole pattern
